The Boston Red Sox have cut pitcher Matt Dermody after he made his first major league start and expressed regret for a homophobic tweet he made in 2021. The team has seven days to trade him or place him on waivers. In other roster moves, the Red Sox transferred Chris Sale to the 60-day injured list, activated outfielder Adam Duvall from the 60-day injured list, and selected the contract of left-hander Joe Jacques Triple-A Worcester.
