Evander Kane's Departure from Hockey Diversity Alliance
Evander Kane, forward for the Edmonton Oilers, has announced that he is stepping away from the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA), a group he co-founded in 2020 to combat racism in hockey. Kane cited concerns about the organization's leadership and combative approach with other groups as reasons for his departure. The HDA responded, stating that Kane had not been involved with the organization since early 2021. The HDA was formed in 2020 and initially received support from the hockey community, but later cut ties with the NHL over unfulfilled goals. The HDA has since focused on initiatives like the Grassroots Original Hockey League and a partnership with Canadian Tire Corporation.
