South Carolina Deputies Arrested for Making Hoax Calls About Dead Bodies
Three South Carolina sheriff's deputies have been arrested and charged with misconduct in office, criminal conspiracy, and aggravated breach of the peace after allegedly making hoax phone calls about dead bodies in four small towns. The calls, which were made to a convenience store or to police, led to responses from officers and emergency workers until it was determined that the reports were false. The reasons behind the hoax calls have not been disclosed, and the deputies have been suspended pending further investigation.
