A Victorville pastor allegedly hired hitmen to kill the man dating his daughter, paying them almost $40,000. The victim survived a drive-by shooting in Riverside and the plot was uncovered by investigators. The pastor and one of the alleged hitmen have been arrested and pleaded not guilty, while another suspect is being sought.
The trial has begun for Charlie Adelson, the former brother-in-law of murdered FSU Law professor Dan Markel. Two hitmen, Sigfredo Garcia and Luis Rivera, were hired to kill Markel in 2014 as part of a custody dispute involving Markel's ex-wife, Wendi Adelson. Rivera implicated Katherine Magbanua, Garcia's ex and the mother of his children, as the intermediary who set up the hit. Magbanua was recently sentenced to life in prison, but hints suggest she may be ready to cooperate with prosecutors. With new evidence and technology, authorities have now charged Charlie Adelson in connection with the murder.
