Historic WWII Blimp Hangar Engulfed in Flames in Southern California
A massive World War II-era wooden blimp hangar in Tustin, California, caught fire, prompting firefighters to allow the structure to collapse in order to extinguish the blaze. The hangar, one of two built in 1942 for the U.S. Navy, was a historic landmark and had been used for Hollywood productions. No injuries were reported, and the property is still owned by the Navy. The hangar had been closed since 2013 due to roof damage.
