
Hirokazu Kore-eda's 'Monster' Receives Standing Ovation at Cannes Premiere
Hirokazu Kore-Eda's latest film, "Monster," received a six-minute standing ovation at its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film follows a widowed mother raising her son, who is struggling in elementary school, and is told from multiple perspectives in a Rashomon-style narrative. Kore-Eda previously won the Palme d'Or in 2018 for "Shoplifters." "Monster" is his ninth film to appear at Cannes.
