Father of Highland Park shooter pleads guilty for son's gun access
The father of the man accused of carrying out a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, pleaded guilty to seven counts of misdemeanor reckless conduct for allowing his son access to firearms. Robert Crimo Jr. admitted to sponsoring his son's gun ownership application despite knowing about his son's threats of violence and suicidal thoughts. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, two years' probation, and 100 days of public service. The plea deal aims to hold parents accountable for mass shootings by their children and sends a message about the importance of gun control.
