Former High School Coach Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Former Students
Michael Guzman, a former high school coach and current assistant principal, has been arrested and charged with four counts of lewd acts on a child stemming from allegations made by two former basketball players at Woodrow Wilson High School in El Sereno. The victims, Maria Barajas and Clarissa Vizcaino, came forward decades after the alleged abuse, stating that the memories of their treatment by Guzman had scarred them and affected their adult relationships. The women have filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School District, claiming that other staff members knew or should have known about the abuse but failed to take action. Guzman has denied the allegations.
