The game, which features intergalactic bounty hunters using foul-mouthed guns to fight aliens, was initially released on Xbox and PC in December 2022 and quickly became a hit. An expansion called High on Knife was also announced during the 2023 Xbox Extended Showcase.

However, the gun character voiced by Justin Roiland, who left Squanch Games following allegations of domestic violence, will likely not be included in the DLC. Roiland was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit in January 2020, but the case was later dropped due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
