Rays Make Roster Moves with Hembree and Burdi.

The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Heath Hembree for assignment and selected Zack Burdi from Triple-A Durham in his place. Hembree pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief yesterday, but the Rays are known for their aggressive turnover at the back of their roster. Burdi, a former first-round pick, has had a spotty track record in Triple-A and has struggled in his limited Major League appearances.

Rays rookie Taj Bradley sent back to minors despite impressive start

The Tampa Bay Rays have sent rookie starter Taj Bradley back to Triple-A Durham to further his development, specifically by transitioning him to a five-day schedule that is standard in the majors. Bradley had posted a 3-0 record with a 3.52 ERA and struck out at least six in each of his three starts for the Rays. To replace Bradley on the active roster, the Rays called up reliever Heath Hembree.
