Mysterious Illness in DR Congo Sparks Global Health Response
The World Health Organization has sent a rapid response team to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to investigate an outbreak of a mysterious flu-like illness known as 'Disease X.' Since October 24, 406 cases have been reported in the Panzi health zone, with symptoms including fever, headache, cough, runny nose, and body aches. The majority of cases involve children under 5, but a 50-year-old man in Italy is suspected to have recovered from the disease.
