Earth's Core Leaking Gold and Rare Metals to the Surface
Researchers have found evidence that Earth's core is leaking gold and other precious metals into the mantle, with some of these metals, including ruthenium, migrating to the surface and enriching volcanic rocks like those in Hawaii, challenging previous assumptions about the core's isolation.
