Maui Wildfire Victims Find Temporary Housing in Hotels and Rentals
Displaced residents in Maui whose homes were destroyed in the wildfires will be able to extend their temporary hotel stays indefinitely, according to Hawaii Governor Josh Green. The residents can register with the Red Cross and stay month by month until more permanent housing is established. The governor anticipates that residents will be able to stay in their accommodations for at least 36 weeks, with the possibility of extensions for another 12 to 18 months. However, some residents are considering relocating to the mainland due to concerns about the length of the rebuilding efforts.
