The Mirage Closes After 34 Iconic Years on the Las Vegas Strip
The iconic Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has closed to make way for a new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, featuring a 700-foot tall guitar-shaped hotel. The closure, which includes laying off over 3,000 employees with $80 million in severance, marks the end of an era for the nearly 35-year-old property known for its nightly erupting volcano shows. The new resort is expected to open in 2027, creating nearly 6,000 jobs.
