Taliban Refugee Minister Khalil Haqqani Killed in Kabul Bombing
Khalil Haqqani, the Taliban's refugee minister and a senior member of the Haqqani network, was killed in a suicide bombing at the interior ministry in Kabul, marking the Taliban's most significant loss since regaining power in 2021. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, which also resulted in six other deaths. Despite improved security since the Taliban's takeover, Afghanistan continues to experience frequent bombings, often attributed to the Islamic State Khorasan Province, a key Taliban rival.
