Less than six weeks after Toby Keith's passing, he has been posthumously named to the Country Music Hall of Fame, with the honor announced in a press conference in Nashville. Despite the rule against inducting artists the year after their death, Keith's induction was allowed as he had already been selected before his passing. Known for his commercial success and polarizing career, Keith's legacy as a singer, songwriter, and musician will be formally honored in a Medallion Ceremony later this year.
Chase Utley had a promising first showing in the 2024 Baseball Hall of Fame voting, receiving 28.8% of votes, while Billy Wagner fell just short at 73.8% in his ninth year of eligibility. Utley and Wagner have potential for future induction, with Utley likely to gain momentum and Wagner possibly being elected in his final year in 2025. The Class of 2024 includes Todd Helton, Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer, and manager Jim Leyland, with Utley's former teammate Jimmy Rollins receiving 14.8% of votes and Gary Sheffield finishing at 63.9% in his 10th and final year on the ballot.
