"Mark Knopfler's Charity Auction: Legendary Guitar Collection Hits the Market"
Mark Knopfler, former lead singer of Dire Straits, is selling 120 guitars and amps from his collection spanning his five-decade career at Christie's in London in January. 25% of the proceeds will go to charity, with the British Red Cross, Tusk, and Brave Hearts of the North East being the beneficiaries. Knopfler expressed his love for guitars and the desire to let them have new adventures with new owners. The collection includes iconic guitars used on tours and recordings, such as a 1959 vintage Gibson Les Paul Standard and a 1983 Les Paul used to record Dire Straits' famous songs.
