GNOME Terminal Boosts Performance with GTK 4 Migration and VTE Enhancements
GNOME Terminal is being migrated to GTK 4 to improve rendering speed, while the VTE terminal emulator library is working to overcome its 40 FPS rendering cap. The migration to GTK 4 is still in progress, with various issues to be resolved. VTE is now using the GdkFrameClock to improve performance, aiming for a smoother experience in GNOME 46.
