Grégoire clinches Paris mayoralty, extending left's 25-year grip
Socialist Emmanuel Grégoire is on track to win Paris’s mayoral runoff with about 53% of the vote, extending the left’s 25-year control of the capital as conservative Rachida Dati trails at ~38% and hard-left Sophia Chikirou ~8.9%. Grégoire campaigned on housing and living costs, distanced himself from outgoing mayor Anne Hidalgo, and accused President Macron of trying to help Dati — a claim Macron denied.
