Authorities in Macon County, North Carolina, seized 24 Great Danes from a breeding mill where they were being kept in poor conditions. The dogs were found living in filth and suffering from various health issues. The owner of the breeding mill has been charged with animal cruelty. The dogs are now in the care of a local animal rescue organization.
A Pennsylvania woman, Kristin Potter, was mauled to death by her neighbor's two Great Danes that she had gone over to feed while their owner was away. The victim's young son ran for help when two of the three dogs present attacked. Emergency responders and police officers were unable to reach the victim until animal control personnel arrived and tranquilized the dogs. The two animals were later taken to a veterinarian and euthanized. The case is under investigation.

The two large dogs launched at her inside the neighbor’s home, and first responders and police officers couldn’t reach the 38-year-old victim until animal control officers showed up and tranquilized the dogs. The two dogs involved in Potter’s attack were later euthanized at a veterinarian’s office. Potter already endured her husband dying several years ago as well as the death of one of her sons, who was 11 when he was fatally struck as he rode his bike in 2020.
