"Last USS Arizona Survivor Lou Conter Dies at 102"
Lou Conter, the last living survivor of the USS Arizona attack at Pearl Harbor, has passed away at the age of 102. Conter, who was 20 at the time of the attack, was one of only 335 officers and crewmen to survive the sinking of the USS Arizona, which claimed the lives of 1,177 of its crew. He went on to serve in three wars and flew 200 missions as a pilot. With his passing, fewer than two dozen survivors of the Pearl Harbor attack are still alive in 2024, as the number of living World War II veterans continues to decline.
