"Intel Unveils Next-Gen E-Core Processors for AI Applications and Edge Networks"
At MWC 2024, Intel announced the upcoming launch of Granite Rapids-D in 2025, the successor to Ice Lake-D processors, and provided updates on the Sierra Forest platform, featuring up to 288 cores designed for vRAN network operators to enhance 5G workloads. Sierra Forest, set for the second half of 2024, will offer power efficiency and performance benefits, with Intel also introducing the vRAM AI Developer Kit and Infrastructure Power Manager application for 5G cores. Additionally, Intel is sampling the next-gen Xeon-D processors with partners for the launch of Granite Rapids-D, which aims to optimize vRAN workloads for edge solutions in 2025.
