GJHS athletes benched after ICE protest walkout
About 50 Grand Junction High School students walked out Friday to protest ICE; several student-athletes were suspended from weekend competitions under District 51’s unexcused-absence policy, a move officials say is meant to keep play fair. While some teams continued competing on Saturday (including wrestling and basketball), others were held from contests, and the girls’ swimming and diving team was slated for regionals.
