Alex Delvecchio, a legendary NHL player and longtime Red Wings center known for his loyalty, skill, and leadership, passed away at age 93. He played 24 seasons with Detroit, won three Stanley Cups, and was a Hall of Famer, celebrated for his contributions both on and off the ice, including serving as team captain and later as coach and GM.

The Washington Capitals celebrated Alex Ovechkin's passing of Gordie Howe for second place on the NHL's all-time goal-scoring list with a GR802 Night ceremony. Ovechkin's family, NHL and NHLPA representatives, and Capitals fans were in attendance. The ceremony included a tribute video narrated by Nicklas Backstrom, gifts from the NHL, NHLPA, and Ovechkin's teammates, and a throne made of 802 pucks. Ovechkin scored his 40th goal of the season just five minutes into the game.
