"Apple Embraces Cloud Gaming Apps in App Store Expansion"

After a long-standing ban, Apple has finally allowed cloud gaming apps on the iOS App Store, following new EU rules. Cloud gaming services like Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass and Nvidia's GeForce Now were previously barred from offering native iOS apps due to Apple's restrictions on offering more than one game in their store listings. Now, developers can submit a single app with the capability to stream all games offered in their catalog, but must adhere to Apple's policy around gaming apps. While Microsoft, Nvidia, and other providers have yet to announce plans for native iOS apps, Google's Stadia, which shut down a year ago, won't have the chance to run through a native app on iOS.

However, the conversion permanently disables the 3.5mm audio port. To switch to Bluetooth mode, users need a Stadia controller, a PC with an internet connection, and a cable to connect the controller to the PC. By following the instructions on Google's official site, users can pair the gamepad as a Bluetooth controller and even remap certain buttons.

Xbox's Cloud Gaming Struggles Despite Microsoft's Efforts.

Microsoft was reportedly working on a dedicated cloud gaming product similar to Google Stadia, which would have allowed users to stream games they owned rather than just from a subscription library. However, the company has since doubled down on the idea that cloud gaming is a "feature" of Xbox Game Pass rather than a dedicated service. Microsoft has been quiet about cloud gaming in recent months and has focused on signing deals with other cloud gaming providers such as Nvidia's GeForce Now.
