Colorado Reaffirms Hunter S. Thompson’s 2005 Death Was Suicide
Colorado’s Bureau of Investigation has again concluded that Hunter S. Thompson died by suicide in February 2005 at Owl Farm in Aspen, after a second review at the request of his widow, Anita Thompson; no new evidence emerged to contradict the original Pitkin County finding that the death was self-inflicted. Thompson, 67, famed for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and for popularizing gonzo journalism, reportedly suffered chronic pain and depression. The widow says the review closes a difficult chapter, and crisis resources are available for those in need.
