The Golden Fire in Oregon has grown to 2,137 acres with 15% containment. Firefighters are making progress in extending mop-up efforts, but 46 single residences and 69 outbuildings have been destroyed. Three single residences and four outbuildings have been damaged. Evacuation orders are in place, and internet services are being restored. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Oregon is facing multiple wildfires, with the Bedrock Fire growing to 500 acres in the Fall Creek area, the Golden Fire rapidly spreading and prompting evacuations, the Simnasho Fire improving to 25% containment, and the Flat Fire growing to 20,231 acres near the town of Agness. Air quality is expected to worsen in southern Oregon, and a human-caused fire was reported on the South Sister climbers trail but has been fully contained.
Level 3 (GO NOW!) evacuations have been issued for areas east of Highway 140, south of Polar Bear Lane, and north of Keno Springs Road in Klamath County, Oregon, due to the rapidly spreading Golden Fire. The fire, which has burned 2,000 acres with 0% containment, is threatening structures. Firefighters are working on structure protection and containment, and an Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team will take over command of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Oregon State Fire Marshal has mobilized additional resources to assist in firefighting efforts.
