MLB GM Meetings Cut Short by Virus Outbreak

Major League Baseball cancels the remainder of its GM meetings in Scottsdale after a virus outbreak among more than 30 executives. Initially thought to be food poisoning, the league asked food servers to wear masks and gloves and instructed executives not to serve themselves at a buffet. Eight league officials fell ill, and nearly every team has someone with symptoms. The meetings were called off a day early, and agents meetings will now be conducted on Zoom.

The NHL general manager meetings concluded without any proposed rule changes, but the potential expansion of coach's challenges was discussed. The GMs left the meetings anticipating the salary-cap ceiling to increase from $82.5 million to $83.5 million. The league is ready to move to the next phase of a Senators sale. The league has no issues with teams or players choosing not to wear Pride jerseys for their pregame skates. The league is not in an expansion mode right now.
