"Ultra-Thin Battery for Smart Contact Lenses Powered by Tears Developed"
Scientists at Nanyang Technological University have developed an ultra-thin battery for smart contact lenses that can be charged using a biocompatible saline solution or even tears. The battery, which is about twice the thickness of a human hair, can reach 80% capacity after eight hours of chemical charging and can be used for a few hours. Although current voltage output is low, the team is working on improving the battery's specifications, with potential applications in healthcare for glucose monitoring.
