"The Boy and the Heron" Soars to Max as Studio Ghibli Deal Extends
HBO Max has secured the streaming rights for Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron as part of an extended deal with GKIDS, making it the exclusive streaming home for the revered animation studio's films in the United States. The multi-year extension will keep Studio Ghibli's library on the Warner Bros. Discovery platform, with The Boy and the Heron set to join the catalog at a later date. This marks the second best animated feature Oscar winner for Studio Ghibli and for Hayao Miyazaki, following 2002's Spirited Away.
