"Portland Timbers Part Ways with Coach Giovanni Savarese: A New Era Begins"
The Portland Timbers have announced the departure of head coach Giovanni Savarese after nearly six seasons. The team currently sits in 12th place in the Western Conference standings and suffered a 5-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo. Assistant coach Miles Joseph will take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Savarese had a successful tenure with the Timbers, including two MLS Cup appearances, but also had public conflicts with players. The club is now looking for a new direction and voice to lead the team.
