Arrest made in Giant food tampering case involving needles.

A former employee of a Giant grocery store in Lower Macungie Township, Pennsylvania, has been charged with three counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of criminal mischief after 11 needles were found in merchandise. No injuries were reported. The former employee, identified as a juvenile, allegedly inserted needles into at least three known food items. Customers who purchased items from the store between April 13 and April 19 are urged to check for any tampering.

Giant Store Employee Puts Needles in Food, Police Warn.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident of food tampering at a Giant grocery store in Lehigh County, where an employee put sewing needles in bagged vegetables and individual Tastykake packages. The tampered items were bought and then returned by customers. A juvenile, now a former employee, has been identified as a suspect and charges are forthcoming. No one has been injured in the incident. Giant has removed several products from the Lower Macungie store's shelves and is fully cooperating with law enforcement on the investigation.
