Optimal Timing for Assisted Birth and Induction of Labor Revealed
A study published in JAMA Network Open found that the lowest perinatal risk for patients undergoing infertility treatment occurs when delivery happens at 39 weeks of gestation. The study analyzed data from 178,448 pregnancies with infertility treatment and found that stillbirth rates increased with each progressive week of gestational age, with the lowest rate at 37 weeks and the highest at 42 weeks. Infant mortality was lowest at 39 weeks. The study highlights the importance of timing in assisted births to minimize adverse outcomes.
