Crucial has introduced the T705 PCIe 5.0 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, the latest addition to its Gen5 consumer NVMe SSD lineup, featuring 2400 MT/s 232L 3D TLC NAND and Phison's E26 controller. The drive offers read speeds of over 14 GBps and is targeted at gamers, content creators, and professional users. It comes in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities with both heatsink and non-heatsink versions available. The T705 utilizes Micron LPDDR4 DRAM and Phison's 'I/O+ Technology', and is priced between 17.85¢/GB and 26¢/GB. With the rise in demand for high-performance SSDs, Crucial's T705 cements their leadership position in the high-performance consumer Gen5 SSD market.

The SSDs are based on the latest Phison E26-max14um controller, offering significant performance improvements over the previous T700 series. With 232-layer 3D NAND flash and Micron LPDDR4 DRAM, the T705 series boasts impressive sequential and random read/write speeds, making it nearly 2x faster than the fastest PCIe Gen4 SSDs. The SSDs are compatible with PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 interfaces, come in M.2 2280 form factors, and are optimized for Microsoft DirectStorage using Phison I/O+ technology. Prices start at $239 for the 1 TB model, with availability expected on March 12, 2024.
ASUS has unveiled its Hyper M.2 PCIe expansion card, which can support up to four Gen5 SSDs and offers up to 512 Gb/s (64 GB/s) of bandwidth in RAID0 mode. However, compatibility may be limited to newer platforms due to the introduction of the PCI Gen5 standard. The card features a versatile design, supporting various form factors and both Gen4 and Gen5 standards. It includes an active cooling system, a Q-Latch system for easy installation, and an option to disable the fan.
