Adam Yates of UAE Team Emirates claimed the yellow jersey and leads the general classification after stage 1 of the Tour de France. His brother Simon Yates is in second place, followed by teammate Tadej Pogačar in third. Thibaut Pinot and Michael Woods round out the top five. Several riders, including Enric Mas and Richard Carapaz, suffered setbacks due to crashes.
