"Google Urges Europe to Regulate Apple's iMessage for Interoperability"

Google, along with major European carriers, has sent a letter to regulators in Europe arguing that iMessage should be classified as a "core" service and subject to interoperability rules under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). If iMessage is included, it would have to be interoperable with competing messaging services, benefiting European consumers and businesses. Apple's Safari: Three Browsers, One Name

Apple's attempt to claim it has three separate Safari browsers in order to avoid being labeled a gatekeeper under the EU's Digital Markets Act has been rejected by the European Union. The EU ruled that Apple's Safari browsers should be considered as one single web browser core platform service (CPS). However, Apple's argument that it offers five distinct operating systems, with only iOS meeting the DMA thresholds, was accepted. If Apple fails to comply with the DMA requirements, it could face fines of up to 10% of its worldwide turnover.
