Gas Line Error Triggers Fatal Youngstown Explosion, Injuring 7
An explosion in Youngstown, Ohio, was caused by workers cutting a pressurized gas line they believed was turned off, resulting in one death and several injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating why the pipe was pressurized and how long it had been that way. The explosion destroyed much of the ground floor of Realty Tower, which housed a Chase Bank branch and apartments.
