Ford has increased the prices of its 2024 Mustang GT and Dark Horse V8 models due to a gas guzzler tax and "strong demand." The Mustang GT and GT Premium are up $1,000, while the Mustang Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium are up $1,300 and $1,400, respectively. The prices for several Dark Horse options have also increased. However, pricing on the Ecoboost models remains the same. The 2024 Ford Mustang is set to hit dealers this summer.
The 2024 Ford Mustang with a 5.0-liter V8 engine and six-speed manual transmission will be subject to a gas-guzzler tax, resulting in a price increase for all affected models. The Dark Horse Premium's price increase was initially reported, but Ford has since confirmed that all Mustangs with the V8 engine and manual transmission will be subject to the charge. Customers who opt for the 10-speed automatic transmission will not be subject to the tax, but will still pay a premium for the automatic gearbox. The EPA has not yet released fuel economy estimates for the 2024 Mustang.
