Daniel Perry faces sentencing for fatal shooting at BLM rally.
The sentencing hearing for Daniel Perry, who was found guilty of murder in the shooting death of Austin protestor Garett Foster in 2020, began on Tuesday. Perry faces up to 99 years in prison, but Governor Greg Abbott has vowed to pardon him if a request is sent to him from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Perry, an Army sergeant, claimed self-defense when he shot Foster five times with a handgun. The board is reviewing Perry's case.
