Paramount Pictures has tapped James Wan to direct a reimagining of the Cannes-hit South Korean thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, with star Ma Dong-seok attached. Wan will produce via Atomic Monster alongside Don Lee’s Big Punch Global, with Shay Hatten writing and Brian Helgeland serving as executive producer, and additional producers including Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions and partners.

Brian Helgeland wrote the original draft and will serve as an executive producer, with Shay Hatten writing the screenplay. Wan and Michael Clear will produce for Atomic Monster. Don Lee will produce via Big Punch Global, alongside Sylvester Stallone and D. Matt Geller (Balboa Productions), Chris Lee (B&C Group), and Jang Won-seok (BA Entertainment). The Cannes-2019 film follows a cop and a crime boss who team up to hunt a serial killer.
