Hacker Exploits Call of Duty Anti-Cheat, Bans Thousands
A hacker known as Vizor exploited a flaw in Call of Duty's Ricochet anti-cheat system to falsely ban thousands of players in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. By sending messages containing specific cheat-related text strings, Vizor triggered automatic bans, exploiting the system's vulnerability to false positives. Although Activision has since fixed the exploit, Vizor claims the number of affected players was much higher than reported and expressed amusement at the situation. The exploit was eventually exposed by another cheat developer, leading to its resolution.
