Zelda Producer Debunks Nostalgia for Limited Games, Embraces Open-World Future
The producer of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Eiji Aonuma, expressed his confusion over fans wanting to return to the more "restricted" and "limited" gameplay of older Zelda games, when the newer ones offer more freedom. Aonuma believes that games today should allow players to make their own decisions and proceed flexibly, unlike the linear path of the past.
