Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. GTI Concept, a retro-themed electric hot hatch that previews the future of the GTI lineup. The concept features sportier fascias, wheels inspired by the Mk1 GTI, and GTI branding throughout. The powertrain details are not yet revealed, but it is said to have a single-motor, high-performance setup with an electronic differential lock for the front wheels. The interior offers a mix of retro and modern elements, including classic gauge displays and customizable settings. Volkswagen confirms that the ID. GTI Concept will go into production, but the timeline for its release is still unknown. The concept will be showcased at the IAA Mobility 2023 event starting September 5.
