Sega Abandons Blockchain Games, Deems Them 'Boring'
Sega's co-Chief Operating Officer, Shuji Utsumi, has stated that the company finds blockchain games "boring" and has shelved plans to develop its own. However, Sega is still allowing third parties to produce NFTs for its lesser-known characters. Utsumi emphasized that the brand's biggest characters won't be associated with NFTs to avoid devaluing the IP. While Sega remains open to the idea of becoming more involved in blockchain games as the technology matures, for now, it is keeping a safe distance.
