A federal judge in Memphis has ruled that Tennessee's "drag ban" is unconstitutional based on the First Amendment and freedom of speech. The law, known as the Adult Entertainment Act, restricted adult cabaret performances, including drag queens and kings, in public spaces and in the presence of children. The ruling came after Friends of George's, a nonprofit organization that produces drag-centric performances, sued the state. The law was set to take effect on July 1, but it's unclear if the Tennessee Attorney General will appeal the case to a higher court.
