French Teenagers Face Trial for Murder of Teacher Samuel Paty
Six French teenagers, aged between 13 and 15, are on trial for their alleged complicity in the murder of teacher Samuel Paty in 2020. The suspects are accused of slandering and pointing out the teacher to the killer, a Chechen refugee. If convicted, they face a maximum of 2.5 years in prison. The murder occurred after Paty showed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during a class on freedom of expression. Another trial is scheduled for next year involving eight adults accused of complicity in the murder, including the father of one of the teenagers on trial.
