Netflix reportedly pays six figures for Honnold's rope-free Taipei 101 climb

Netflix livestreamed Alex Honnold’s rope-free ascent of Taipei 101. The payout is reportedly in the six figures, which Honnold called an “embarrassing amount,” saying he’d do it for free and that he’s paid for the spectacle, not the climb. Taipei 101 stands about 1,667 feet tall with a challenging mid-section known as the “bamboo boxes.”

A British man, believed to be George King-Thompson, was detained by authorities after attempting to free climb Seoul's Lotte World Tower, the fifth-tallest skyscraper in the world. He was carrying a parachute and said he wanted to BASE-jump from the top of the building. He reached the 72nd floor before being taken into custody. King-Thompson was previously arrested for scaling the Shard in London and climbing the Stratosphere Tower in 2021. The Lotte Property & Development said the man didn't suffer any major injuries.

British man arrested for scaling Lotte Tower in Seoul.

A British man, identified as free climber George King-Thompson, was detained by authorities after climbing more than halfway up the 123-story Lotte World Tower in Seoul with his bare hands. He reached the 72nd floor before officials took him to a gondola lift and moved him inside the building. The man was carrying a parachute and told police that he wanted to BASE-jump from the top of the building. King-Thompson was previously arrested in 2019 after scaling the Shard in London and was sentenced to six months in prison.
