Miami-Dade Police Chief in Critical Condition After Injury
Freddy Ramirez, the director of public safety in Miami-Dade County, Florida, sustained a serious self-inflicted gunshot injury on Sunday and is currently in critical but stable condition. Ramirez, who also serves as the director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, was attending a conference in Tampa with his wife at the time of the incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, and Ramirez's position will transition to an independently elected sheriff's position after next year's elections.
