Flying Pig Marathon perseveres through storms and fundraising efforts.
Despite bad weather moving in, the organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati decided to go ahead with the race, issuing a "shelter-in-place" recommendation for runners. Race director Iris Simpson-Bush consulted with experts and felt that the medical team and volunteers were well-versed in what to do to assist. Many runners chose to continue despite the recommendation, citing personal responsibility and the investment they had made in the race. The official clock ran, and chip times reflected the total time from start to finish.
