Florida Defeats Alabama in WCWS Amid Weather Delays

Alabama's softball season ended with a 6-4 loss to Florida in the Women's College World Series. Despite strong performances from Marlie Giles and Riley Valentine, Alabama couldn't overcome Florida's explosive offense. The Crimson Tide's pitchers struggled, giving up 10 hits, and a three-run homer by Florida's Jocelyn Erickson sealed the game. Alabama was eliminated from the double-elimination tournament after also losing to UCLA.

Top Softball Teams Set for NCAA Regional Showdowns in 2023

The Florida softball team will compete in the Palo Alto Regional of the 2023 NCAA Softball Tournament, facing off against host No. 9-seed Stanford, Loyola Marymount, and Long Beach State. This will be the first time since 2004 that the Gators will have to go on the road for the regional round. UF has won two NCAA National Championships in 2014 & 2015, earned 11 Women's College World Series berths, appeared in 14 NCAA Super Regionals and 23 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Florida and Arkansas Split Weekend Series

The eighth-ranked Florida softball team defeated No. 12 Arkansas, 11-4, to tie the series 1-1. Senior Rylee Trlicek's strong relief performance in the circle and Charla Echols' five RBI, including a home run and bases-clearing double, led the Gators to victory. Sarah Longley also hit a three-run home run. The series finale is set for 1 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
